Tonight is the most awaited night of Davao City's celebration of its 73rd charter anniversary. From 32 hopefuls to 15 semi-finalists, and now, down to the top five, the search for the Mutya ng Dabaw 2010 comes to an end as the new Ambassadress Goodwill will be crowned tonight, March 15, 2010, 7 PM, at the CAP Auditorium.
The Mutya ng Dabaw finalists are Samantha de Leon, a 22 year old customer service representative; Esperanza Odulio, an 18 year old, 2nd Year International Studies student; Cherry Mae Manning, a 21 year old, registered nurse and airline cabin crew; Johanna Monica Yu, a 22 year old, industrial engineer; and Janelle Tee, a 19 year old, 3rd Year B.A. Mass Com student.
The five candidates will vie for the titles Sinag ng Dabaw, Patnubay ng Dabaw, Pag-asa ng Dabaw, Diwa ng Dabaw and the much-coveted Mutya ng Dabaw.
Criteria for the competition are Intelligence (awareness and the ability to analyze issues and concerns, this also pertains to her knowledge of Davao's history and culture) - 25%; Communication Skills (wit and ability to communicate her ideas with substance effectively) - 25%; Personality (her agreeable physical outlook, character traits and behavior including her attitudes towards peers, the community and persons of authority) - 25%; Talent (her special skills and abilities) - 15%; and Quality of Proposed Project Design - 10%.
